Blurb: Welcome to Thornthwaite, a quaint village tucked up in England’s beautiful but rainy Lake District, where homecomings and surprises await the four Holley sisters…

Esther Holley, the eldest in the family, has always had her life firmly in control until a miscarriage knocks her off course. Two months later, still emotionally spinning, she separates from her husband Will, a sheep farmer and man of few words and moves back in with her parents.

Life as a singleton thirtysomething living in her parents’ house is miserable, but Esther is determined to re-boot her life, including going on a few unfortunate dates. She’s shocked when tight-lipped Will shows up on her doorstep determined to woo her back. They’ve been married for seven years, but Will wants to return to the beginning, dating and getting to know each other again.

New challenges face them as they start over–and new chances too. Can Esther and Will save their marriage, especially when faced with the hardest decision of all?

A VICARAGE REUNION EXCERPT

They arrived at the hotel, a narrow building crammed between large, modern monstrosities, and after a few minutes to check-in, they were upstairs in a room that was, Esther saw with a sinking sensation, really quite tiny. A double bed, not the queen she’d been hoping for, and about a foot between it and the bureau. The adjoining bathroom was small enough to make using the loo and the shower at the same time possible, if she’d wished to attempt such a feat of hydraulic engineering.

“Well, this is cosy.” Will hefted both their bags onto the bureau. With the two of them in it the room felt even tinier, airless. Her head was still spinning from all the alcohol she’d ill-advisedly imbibed.

“I think I’ll take a shower.”

“Fine by me.”

Unfortunately, Esther realized after she’d shimmied past Will to collect her washbag, the bathroom had a door constructed entirely of frosted glass, and made her feel as if she were performing in a peep show. It was impossible not to have her full silhouette be visible, and also impossible, considering the size of the room, not to have Will watch—all which made having a shower a far less relaxing proposition than she’d hoped.

It felt stupid to be self-conscious considering how well Will knew her body, and how she knew his. Every scar, every sinew, everything. They’d been married for seven years. Of course they knew each other, physically at least.

Yet now, as she rinsed off as quickly as she should, and then yanked on her sensible pyjamas—a fleece top and yoga pants—she felt ridiculously prudish, as if she’d turned into a buttoned-up nun. She avoided looking at Will as she hurried into bed.

He was already lying on one side of what now seemed like the tiniest double bed ever known to humankind, staring up at the ceiling, his hands folded over his broad—and bare—chest like a corpse in a casket.

As Esther slid into her side of the bed, she thought about asking him to put on a shirt, and then decided not to go there. She turned so her back was to Will and clicked off the light.

Silence smothered the room, heavy and oppressive. Esther scrunched her eyes shut, as if she could forcibly will herself to sleep. She edged her feet away from Will’s, in case they tangled toes as they so often had in the past, their version of a kiss goodnight.

“Nice door on the bathroom,” Will commented after several endless minutes, his voice disembodied in the darkness, and Esther’s whole body jolted with tension, as well as something else.

“You didn’t have to look.”

“Kind of hard not to, and in any case, we’re married.” Will shifted on the bed so his body, already mere inches from hers, pressed that much closer. “I know your body as well as my own, Esther.” He spoke matter-of-factly but it still made a shiver go through her. She’d been thinking the same thing, and to hear Will say it made heat bloom inside her.

Then Will put his hand on her shoulder, heavy and warm. “Esther…”

The Wrong Kind of Compatible
Kadie Scott
(Love Undercover #1)
Published by: Entangled: Lovestruck
Publication date: June 12th 2017
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

Data analyst Cassie Howard may be brilliant (and, okay, a little awkward), but she’s worked hard to get where she is. She definitely doesn’t need some sexy new analyst coming in and taking credit for her work. Or the inappropriate thoughts that keep popping out of her mouth she’d rather he not hear.

For undercover FBI agent Drew Kerrigan, computers have always made more sense than people, but he’d better develop some slick social skills in a hurry if he’s going to win over the too-tantalizing-for-his-sanity Cassie. Hacking their systems was easy. Now he’s just got to hack the one person in the company most likely to see through his ruse…

EXCERPT:

She flipped his hand palm up, and, with firm but gentle strokes, proceeded to massage the area. She pressed into the muscles, pulled on his fingers, and pinched the pressure point between his thumb and forefinger. Every stroke, every brush of her fingers against his skin turned into sheer sensual torture.

Done with his right hand, she placed it in his lap. Drew clamped his lips shut around a groan at how close she was to a part of his body that would love some similar attention. Instead, she picked up his left hand and gave it the same treatment.

“Is the pain gone?”

His headache was, replaced by an entirely different kind of ache. “Not entirely.”

“Okay. Let me try one more thing.” She let go of his hand. “Close your eyes.”

He did as she asked, but immediately regretted it, because now his mind could supply all sorts of inappropriate images as she touched him. He should put a stop to this, but found he couldn’t. Didn’t want to.

She gently ran the pads of her fingers over his face, smoothing over his brows, his forehead, his cheekbones, his temples. Needing to see her, he slowly opened his eyes.

She smiled, eyes dark with an answering desire. “Helping?”

Help was a relative term. Drew didn’t answer, instead, he ran his gaze over every nuance of her face, eventually locking on to turbulent turquoise eyes, unable to pull his gaze away. He reached out and touched a strand of her silky, pale hair that had escaped her pencil restraints.

Cassie’s lips parted on a sweet little gasp that teased his ears. Unable to stop himself, Drew closed the small distance between them and brushed his lips over hers. Just the briefest kiss to relieve the need to touch her like this, to feel her soft lips against his.

“Drew?” she whispered against his lips.

Lord he could become obsessed with the husky timbre to her voice and the way she said his name. Lose himself in her. He pulled back just enough to see her expression. “Yeah?”

She swallowed. “Maybe we should finish this tomorrow?”

Why not tonight? The words trembled on the tip of his tongue until he realized she was talking about work.

MY REVIEW

This is the first book by Kadie Scott that I have read. I really enjoyed this book. It was funny smart and sexy.
In this book you have Cassie, who is a highly intelligent data analyst. Drew constantly struggles to live up to her mothers high expectations. She is always compared to her brothers who are highly successful, smart doctors. In walks Drew, sexy as hell, highly intelligent FBI man. Drew is there to investigate Cassie on a high profile cyber case. She is his main suspect. But when their eyes meet for the first time, there is no denying that this girl will be trouble with a capital T. She is just as drawn to him as he is her. Will Drew be able to prove that Cassie is not the bad guy? Will Cassie lose her heart to him and then have it broken?
This book was such a cute, steamy romantic read. I absolutely loved the plot line. It was a bit different than most of the steamy romance books out there. I loved the characters of this story. They were invested in their roles and have wonderful charisma. I love how Cassie speaks her mind without her knowing it. It is extremely funny. Drew is so cute with his “how to” books for interacting with women. And OMG the sexy nerd jokes. Loved it! If this author is not on your read list, then I highly suggest you check her out. Definitely pick this book up. It is a wonderful read.
