But Tilly has fallen in with a strange group – a pack of werewolves. The pack wants to protect her; none of them more so than Dominic, the alpha’s kind-hearted son. Tilly thinks she might be falling for him, but she can’t help being fascinated by his brooding, mysterious half-brother Spencer.

Review|Dead To The World

35691000Dead to the World (Deadlines Mysteries #2)

by Camilla Chafer (Goodreads Author)
it was amazing 5.0  ·  Rating Details ·  2 Ratings  ·  2 Reviews

The sequel to Deadlines…

Chief reporter turned reluctant entertainment columnist, Shayne Winter, is hungry for a hard-hitting headline. All she has to do is convince her grouchy editor at the LA Chronicle to give her a real story; but all he wants her to do is write forgettable snippets and leave the real work to ace reporter, Ben Kosina.

When Hollywood’s hottest starlet, Claudia Gilbert, is found dead, Shayne knows nothing is what it seems. After all, only yesterday Shayne was observing Claudia’s every move, ready to spill the latest celebrity gossip in her column. Shayne discovers Claudia was planning to sneak away on a secret trip, so how did she end up at home, dead?

Despite all evidence pointing to Claudia’s estranged husband being the guilty party, Shayne, unlike Ben, isn’t convinced. Claudia’s whole life and career were orchestrated; couldn’t her death have been too? If Shayne can uncover the truth, she might beat the deadline for a real headline; that is, if she doesn’t end up in the killer’s crosshairs.

My Review 2

This is the second book in this series and I can say I was not disappointed.  This is the perfect “who done it book”.  Camilla Chafer is one of my favorite authors.  I am on her ARC team and I love it.  She is a wonderful author and sweet as can be.  I really enjoy reading her books.  My favorite series is her Lexi Graves Series.  You should definitely check her out  on Facebook @CamillaChafer.

In this book LA’s newest Chronicle reporter Shayne Winter is back and at it again.  When she gets an interview of the lifetime and her client Starlet Claudia turns up dead, her and Ben are put on the headline story.  The investigation heats up and everything points to Josh, the starlets husband.  Too bad the same can’t be said of Ben and Shayne’s relationship, which seems to be cold.  Will Ben and Shayne work out the relationship and move it to the hot and heavy zone?  Will Shayne be able to find the murderer before it is too late?

ohhh GIFThis book had me guessing till the end with a twist that was very unexpected.  I love the characters in this series.  Camilla is slowly introducing move characters and building a great background.  Mike is super funny with his trash talking.  He has Shayne believing some pretty  good stories.  Their banter is sooo funny.  Sometimes I wonder if maybe he is interested in Shayne a little more than he lets on.  The story is steady paced and thrilling.  If you love to read a good murder mystery then this is the book for you.  I highly recommend this and all Ms. Chafer’s books.  You will not be disappointed.

I give this book  5 Stars

Deadlines (Deadlines Mysteries Book 1) by [Chafer, Camilla]

Deadlines (Deadlines Mysteries Book 1)

Shayne Winter thinks she has everything she ever wanted: a job as chief reporter at The LA Chronicle, a swish, new apartment in a fabulous neighborhood, and a California-cool lifestyle. But on the very first day, it all goes horribly wrong. The apartment is less “young professional” and more “young offender,” as the only furnishing is a handsome squatter with roving eyes. Even worse, Ben Kosina, her predecessor at The Chronicle, has returned to claim his former job, leaving Shayne nothing but the obituary column and a simple choice: take it or leave it.

Her first assignment should be easy: eulogizing the accidental death of washed-up former child-star, Chucky Barnard, and filing her column. Yet when Shayne interviews the people closest to Chucky, his sister claims Chucky had everything to live for, suggesting his untimely death could only be murder.

Convinced this could be the perfect headline to put her life back on track, Shayne vows to find the truth, persuade a reticent homicide detective to investigate, and bring a killer to justice, all before Ben grabs her story and the killer makes Shayne his or her personal deadline. Amazon Button

  • Nominate 10-20 people and notify them.

  • Ask nominees any 5 questions of your choice, with a weird or funny question.
  • Share the link to your best/favourite post of yours.

Three Things About Myself (this is always the hard part)

  1. I am a very crafty person.  I bake cakes, embroidery and some sewing, make wreaths, wedding planning and decorations, wedding bouquets, photography, arts and crafts and much more.  I really enjoy doing all these things.
  2. I love to hike and kayak, which I just started doing both these things recently.  I really enjoy the outdoors, but have to be careful due to all the allergies and asthma I have.
  3. I am an outgoing and loving person.  I never meet a stranger.  I trust easily and sometimes that can be my downfall.  Some say I wear my heart on my sleeve.  I feel lucky that I have so many wonderful people in my life.

The Questions:

1. What is the coolest handmade thing you’ve ever received?

A Quilt my grandma made for my baby dolls when I was a child.   I still have it.  🙂

2. Is there a villain or antagonist that you can’t help but call a favorite character? If so, who?

I think I would pick the Xcor from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by: J.R. Ward.  He is just trying to survive and falls into the wrong thinking of taking down the king.  I blame his second in command for his bad decisions.  Now this is a spoiler so don’t read these next sentences if you haven’t read the books.  (he redeems hisself in this last book The Chosen, by saving Thor’s life and pledging his life to the King)  All in all I fill he was just misunderstood.

3.  What is a show, anime, or webcomic that desperately needs another season? Or a book that needs a sequel?

Dead Like Me – It is a show that originally aired on Showtime for two seasons only in 2003 & 2004.  It was a hilarious comedy about a girl named Georgia that died by a toilet seat from outer space entering the earths atmosphere and hitting her in the head.  She then returns to earth as a grim reaper.  This show is full of dark humor, but it is funny as hell.  I hear they may make a movie.  I really hope so.

4. What are some animations and/or webcomics that you think have some of the best art?  This is a hard one considering I don’t read anima  or comics.  I will have to go with cartoons.  Scooby Doo cartoons always had some pretty cool backdrops.

5. (Weird/funny) Which character would you like to be from whatever you’re currently reading or watching? I would want to be Jane on Drop Dead Diva, she is  so confident and sure of herself.  She is a strong character.

My Questions:

  1. Who is your favorite fictional character?
  2. If you were the stranded on a deserted island and could choose one celebrity to be with you, who would that be and why?
  3. Which author is on your bucket list to meet and why?
  4. If you could volunteer for an outreach program, which would you chose and why?
  5. What book character would best describe you and why?

Sybil Bartel
(Uncompromising #3)
Publication date: October 16th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

André

The Marines trained me to set my sights and wait for the shot. For eight years, I guarded my brothers and defended my country. Now I protect my clients. My personal security firm is the best in the business because I leave nothing to chance… until a dark-haired, hazel-eyed spitfire crosses my path.

She and her sexy-as-hell striptease were supposed to be a one-night distraction. But too late I noticed the branding on her back and my blood ran cold. This woman wasn’t a distraction—she was a death sentence.

Knowing who she was left me no choice. I took her on as my client. But running from her past wasn’t an option.

The Marines didn’t train me to retreat. They taught me to engage.

One shot. One kill.

Previous books in the series:

Author Bio:

Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.

Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…

But Seriously?

Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.

She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.

To find out more about Sybil Bartel, be sure to follow her on Twitter (she loves to hear about your favorite book boyfriend!), visit her website, like her on Facebook or join her Facebook group Book Boyfriend Heroes for exclusive excerpts and giveaways.
