This book was full of twists and turns that will have you second guessing yourself over and over. A well thought out plot full of comedy and suspense. At times the plot was not written well, a bit choppy at times. Even though I found some parts to be lagging, I still found it to be a very enjoyable read. Nick and Sarah are wonderful characters that have amazing chemistry. The ending leaves you hanging just a bit, but not like a cliff dive. It leaves room to continue Sarah’s story further. I would hope that Nick and Sarah continue together.
If you are looking for a steady paced read that will keep you guessing right up to the end, then this book is for you. It has a thick and engaging plot, with fun and energetic characters. Even though there were some slow spots in the story, it was still a fun and suspenseful read.
Lucas Callahan gave up his law degree, fiancée and small-town future for a shot at making it in the Big Apple. He snags an entry-level job at Empire magazine, believing it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a famous writer. And then late one night in a downtown bar he meets a gorgeous brunette who takes him home…
Carmen Kelly wanted to be a hard-hitting journalist, only to find herself cast in the role of Empire’s sex columnist thanks to the boys’ club mentality of Manhattan magazines. Her latest piece is about an unfortunate—and unsatisfying—encounter with an awkward and nerdy guy, who was nice enough to look at but horribly inexperienced in bed.
Lucas only discovers that he’s slept with the infamous Carmen Kelly—that is, his own magazine’s sex columnist!—when he reads her printed take-down. Humiliated and furious, he pens a rebuttal and signs it, “Nice Guy.” Empire publishes it, and the pair of columns go viral. Readers demand more. So the magazine makes an arrangement: Each week, Carmen and Lucas will sleep together… and write dueling accounts of their sexual exploits.
It’s the most provocative sexual relationship any couple has had, but the columnist-lovers are soon engaging in more than a war of words: They become seduced by the city’s rich and powerful, tempted by fame, and more attracted to each other than they’re willing to admit. In the end, they will have to choose between ambition, love, and the consequences of total honesty.
I wanted to love this book. I really did, but I just could not get there. Now did I like it? Well yes and no. I liked the story plot line, but disliked the deliverance. The book was very, very slow. I had a hard time finishing it.
The characters although interesting were somewhat maddening as well. I wanted to fall in love with Lucas and Carmen, and at times I thought I might, but then when I finished the book I felt unsatisfied. As for the supporting characters, well I did not care for many of them. I especially did not like the part in the end where Lucas, his ex and her fiance’ met to talk. I felt like that was a forced issue in the story, more like a selfish act on Lucas’s part.
At times in the story I felt there were tidbits that just did not belong or useless information. Like the bag of ties. What was the purpose of the ties being left behind but never returned? The big finale was not what I imagined it would be. I was expecting Lucas, being a journalist, to do a huge write-up in Noser to out his boss, with pictures of proof and all. Or I expected jail time for Nick and Jays.
With the expectation of this being a rom-com book, I would have expected a happy ending, declaration of love or so some sort. The ending of this book just left me feeling meh. I was neither excited, happy nor content. I just think it fell flat leaving me unsatisfied.
Overall the book has a good base line story. Some characters were interesting. There were some key parts of the story that were meaningful, even though they were not delivered well. It did have some life experiences that made the book feel somewhat relatable. I liked it well enough, but it was not a favorite. Overall I have to give this book a 3 star rating.

Does this dragon think she is a potential mate? She can’t be. She does not bear the mark. Can Fallon find the rogue dragon and stop him before he kills her?
I read the prequel The Mate first and was supper excited about this. I have to say I am not disappointed in this book at all. It is an excellent start to the new Fire’s Edge series. Abigail Owen has a best-seller series on her hands with this one. So far the plot is exciting and thrilling, not to mention hot as hell. Not just from all that dragon fire, but those hot and sexy fire fighters. Oh my lord. **fans self** Those men are sexy as hell.
The characters in this book are so intriguing. I am loving each and every one of them. Delaney is a tough cookie, who is smart and independent. Finn is very loyal, protective and possessive. Delaney sure does give Finn a run for his money. Even the supporting characters are awesome.
My favorite type of romances are fire fighters saving damsels. So it is no surprise I wanted to read these. With dragons as fire fighters who could go wrong with that right!? This book had danger, suspense, love, hot sex, humor and lots of spunk. I am no fan of dragon shifter books, but with this one I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I absolutely could not put this book down. It was so thrilling. There were times I was about to com bust. I haven’t read a good paranormal in a long time. This was a nice surprise.
Overall this book is amazing. With a steady pace, amazing characters and great world building, this book series is sure to hit the #1 spot. I highly suggest you check it out!

When Jess Vandermire, Captain of New York City’s Vampire Hunting team, learns that her brother, Regent, has been sent to Paris for three months by the Vatican, she’s devastated. Regent’s been too involved with vampires as a priest to go to Paris without fearing vampire retribution. He’ll need backup. Lucky for him, Jess and her partner, John Brittain, have some vacation time coming.
Once Jess and Britt arrive, they know something’s not right in the city. Women are being murdered, and the vampire population is on the edge of revolt. But worst of all, the City of Lights is home to a lot of shadows, ones that move—and kill—of their own accord. But Jess’s existence is rocked to the core when Regent comes across a life-changing, long lost family secret.
It’s starting to look like there’ll be no rest for the wicked.
City of Bones—some secrets don’t stay buried . . .
Jess Vandermire is on a mission. That is to protect her brother. So when Regent is sent to Paris on a three-month assignment, she can’t help but follow him. You better believe that where Jess goes, Britt is sure to follow.
Jess and Britt are glad they followed Regent to Paris, because things are not as the seem and they quickly learn that danger is lurking in the city. Regent is tired looking and seems a bit off, the church is keeping big secrets, they run into another vampire who could be Jess’s twin and dangerous shadows are lurking everywhere. Can the trio figure out what is happening before it is too late?
This is the first book in the series City of Bones. This is a spin-off from the Jess Vandermire series by Lina Gardiner. Considering I have not read the original series, this first book felt like it was missing pieces of the puzzle. At first I could not figure out that Jess indeed was a vampire, or why her brother was reverted to his youth. I was a bit lost and confused at first. Still feel as if I am missing chunks of the characters back grounds.
Overall the book was pretty good, with tons of action and mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat. The story plot line was unique, even though the story felt a bit jumpy at times. The characters are exciting, but I felt like we were missing too much of their backstories. The book ended nicely, but there were things that went unresolved. Leaving the reader wondering ?? well what was that all about ?? Maybe these things will be revealed in the next books. We will have to wait and see.
If you love paranormal reads, then you may want to check this book out. But my suggestion is read the original series first. Maybe that will fill in the gaps of this book.

clutch: a novel is the laugh-out-loud, chick lit romance chronicling the dating misadventures of Caroline Johnson, a single purse designer who compares her unsuccessful romantic relationships to styles of handbags – the “Hobo” starving artist, the “Diaper Bag” single dad, the “Briefcase” intense businessman, etc. With her best friend, bar owner Mike by her side, the overly-accommodating Caroline drinks a lot of Chardonnay, puts her heart on the line, endures her share of unworthy suitors and finds the courage to discover the “Clutch” or someone she wants to hold onto.
Caroline Johnson has always been obsessed with handbags. So she pursued her dream and went to college at Harvard School of Business where she met Mike.
Mike Barnsworth III is a rich kid who doesn’t want to take over the family business. He wants to own his own bar. When he meets Caroline he immediately befriends her.
Mike has no trouble with the ladies. His rule is no more than three dates. Caroline on the other hand has nothing but trouble. All she wants is to find someone she can hold onto, her “Clutch”. Caroline’s only constant relationship is her best friend Mike. So when Mike says he is moving to LA to start his dream of owning a bar, Caroline follows. Friends till the end right?!
This story was hilarious. A Friends to Loverromance. These two characters were so enjoyable. Mike with his smart banter and Caroline with her “handbags”, dates. Each guy in the book is labeled a handbag. I think my favorite was fanny pack. Mike really did not like him. The dude was creepy. Doctor Bag was a class a jerk. I could go on and on, but lets not spoil the fun.
Mike was an amazing and fun character. He was sexy and smart. Mike and Caroline’s friendship was strong and he always had her back no matter what. Their witty banter will have you laughing out loud. Almost like Will and Grace, except Mike is not gay.
Overall this book was so much fun to read. A steady read that not only had humor, but had heart melting moments and many tears. It was a unique style in the friends to loversromance category. I loved how the author created a handbag for each man Caroline dated. A very short but easy read. So is you are looking for a good time then this book is right up your ally.
