Title: Deal Breaker
Author: Tara Leigh
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About Deal Breaker:
Nixie Rowland is having a bad day. Rushing home to drown her sorrows in ice cream and reality television, she decides to take a shortcut to the subway where things take a turn for the worst. But Nixie’s bad luck doesn’t end there—the white knight who comes to her rescue is none other than the Dark Knight of Wall Street, a cocky Manhattan mogul whose ego barely fits inside his penthouse. To her horror, Nixie discovers the sizzling attraction between them is off the charts, and rising fast. Spending the night in his bed does nothing to lower the heat… And everything to set her heart on fire.
Nash Knight doesn’t have room in his life, or his heart, for anything beyond one-night stands or casual flings. And he certainly doesn’t make a habit of rescuing damsels in distress. Except that this particular damsel slips beneath his armor, the vulnerability she covers with a false show of bravado hitting him somewhere deep. Nixie is everything he never wanted… And exactly what he needs.
With Nixie on the run from a controlling ex, and Nash trying to salvage a business deal at risk because his conquests in the bedroom are overshadowing his wins in the boardroom, there’s one simple solution for them both: a marriage in name only. But when lust becomes love, will their untamed emotions be a deal breaker?

“Can I have my clothes now?” My throat was so tight, each word emerged strangled.

“No.”

No? I’d swallowed my pride to sound appreciative, practically begging for my clothes back, and he had the gall to say no? Who the hell did this guy think he was?

Beneath the covers, an indignant shiver trembled through me. I couldn’t see much in the dark room, but I assumed he was the same man who’d come running into the alley last night. The memory of him was permanently ingrained in my brain. Tall, at least a foot taller than me, with close cropped dark hair and olive skin. Pale green eyes that sat above high cheekbones, fringed by long eyelashes that didn’t soften his hard edges one bit. “Listen, if you’re expecting some kind of open-armed, grateful—”

“From you?” He made a noise that sounded like a snort. “I’m getting the feeling you don’t do grateful.”

I winced, taken aback by the blunt honesty of his observation. “I never asked you to come running into the alley after me.”

“So you’re not glad I did?”

With my track record, of course I wouldn’t wind up with a run-of-the-mill good samaritan. No, instead I fell into the hands of a cocky jerk with extra time on his hands, looking for an appreciative female to stroke his ego. “How do you know I wouldn’t have been just fine on my own?”

“You’re right. I don’t.” His swift capitulation surprised me, and I sagged back against the pillow. “Next time you have your head in the clouds and don’t notice two thugs hot on your tail, looking to rob or rape you, probably both, I’ll let you take your chances.”

“Fine. All hail the conquering hero. Happy now?”

“Are you admitting that you needed my help?”

So damned smug. “Listen, we can debate my self-defense capabilities all day—”

“Night. It’s the middle of the night.”

“Whatever. All night, all day. There’s no difference. What I’m trying to say—”

The arrogant man with a white knight complex interrupted me again. “Actually, there is a difference. The difference is—it’s nighttime, and you’re in my bed getting all hot and bothered about nonsense. Either go to sleep, or we might as well channel your energy into something more productive.”

I snapped my sagging jaw shut, feeling a rush of heat between my thighs that rivaled my burning knife wound. Jeez, Nixie. Get a grip. This guy is clearly an asshole and you are not an asshole magnet.

Not anymore.

His low chuckle sent the hair at the back of my neck standing on end. “So that’s what it takes, huh? You know, most women would consider sex with me to be more of a bonus than a threat.”

Jesus, this guy had quite a set of balls on him. “Don’t flatter yourself, big shot. You could have called nine-one-one. Or dropped me off at the nearest hospital. I’m in your bed because you brought me here. And now I want to leave.”

MY REVIEW

Wow!  Just Wow!  What an amazing story!  I was so captivated by this book.

In this book Nash Knight is a self-made billionaire and part-time boxer.  He has come from nothing to something earning him the title the Black Knight of Wall Street.  He is cold and calculated.

Nixie is running from her past and she happens to run into a dark alley unaware of the dangers that are following behind her.  When she is attacked a good-looking man comes to her rescue.

Nash sees what is transpiring as he is leaving the gym.  Rushing in to save the damsel in distress he finds her being attacked and rescues her.  She starts to yell at him and then she passes out from blood loss and shock.  As Nash carries a unconsious Nixie to his home to be looked at by his on call doctor, he struck by how beautiful she is.  He wonders what else she may be running from.

When Nixie wakes in a strangers bed all she can think of is how to get away.  She is scared and this beautiful alpha male is more trouble than she needs in her life.

This book was fantastic.  The characters were so charismatic and I just fell in love with their story.  I believe Eva is delusional and I wanted to slap the crap out of her.  I really wished that Nixie did not back down from her the way she did.  But Eva knew what she was doing.  Very conniving.

Nash is that perfect knight in shining armor.  “Nash, my knight in shining armor who insisted his cape was black despite it being as white as his perfect teeth.”  He has a very hard time admitting that he can and is in love with Nixie.  Nixie is a very stubborn and strong-willed individual with a run for the hills approach to anything that scares her.  Together they are perfect for each other.

This book was a page turner from the very beginning.  I was hooked easily.  It had loads of drama, suspense and humor.  I am looking forward to reading more by Tara Leigh.  Even though this is a second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.  A very entertaining and exciting read.

MY REVIEW

Oh my what a wonderful read!

In this story Cleo is still nursing a broken heart 💔, from a year ago when her boyfriend Scott left her to live in Australia.  She has been working on herself and checking things off her bucket list.  She is slowly moving on, but not ready to date again.  Then after a sky diving experience with her bff Emma they decide to go to the pub to celebrate.  Low and behold she runs into none other than Scott.  All the feelings come rushing forward as he professes his apology asking for another chance.  But she stands strong and walks away.

As they continue to bump into each other, her resolve weakens.  Then they have a one night stand, only for her to wake up alone.  Devastated and feeling he has abandoned her again, she falls back into heartbreak again.

When fate comes calling Cleo faints and is rushed to the hospital.  The prognosis is she is pregnant.  What will she do now?  When she breaks the news to Scott, he decides that he wants to be there for his child.  They agree to put their issues aide and work together to be good parents.

Scott is determined to be there for his child.  even if it means he can’t be with Cleo romantically.  Will he and Cleo comes to terms with their relationship?  Or will all the obstacles pull them apart?

This is the first book by Lynsey James that I have read and I was so impressed.  I really loved this story.  It was a very emotional read.   The type of story that will touch your soul.  Ms. James took her time telling the story and developing the characters.  An amazing story.  A lovely tale of second chances and new beginnings.

The characters in this book are amazing and really make this book come alive.  Each character has strength in spades.  Cleo really does have some issues she struggles with.  She is very determined to overcome it all to become the best mummy she can be.  Scott is a very sweet guy.  He loves Cleo desperately and he is afraid to show that side to Cleo, afraid it will scare her away.  He is also a very caring and determined man.  Cleo and Scott really work hard to overcome all the obstacles that are tossed at them.  Let me tell you they are some doozies.

This book will draw you in and captivate you.  A wonderful cozy Christmas read.  Perfect for sitting  by the fire curled up in the blanket with a hot chocolate.  It will make you laugh, cry, smile and fall in love.  I can definitely see this becoming a movie.  Maybe another Love Actually.  I love a good Christmas Romance!

Lynsey JamesAuthor bio: Lynsey James was born in Fife in 1991 and has been telling people how to spell her name ever since. She’s an incurable bookworm who loves nothing more than getting lost in a good story with memorable characters. She started writing when she was really young and credits her lovely Grandad- and possibly a bump on the head from a Mr Frosty machine- with her love of telling stories. She used to write her own episodes of Friends and act them out in front of her family (in fact she’s sure she put Ross and Rachel together first!)

A careers adviser at school once told Lynsey writing wasn’t a “good option” and for a few years, she believed her. She tried a little bit of everything, including make-up artistry, teaching and doing admin for a chocolate fountain company. The free chocolate was brilliant. When Lynsey left my job a couple of years ago, she started writing full-time while she looked for another one. As soon as she started working on her story, Lynsey fell in love and decided to finally pursue her dream. She haven’t looked back since.

When Lynsey’s not writing, eating cake or drinking tea, she’s daydreaming about the day Dylan O’Brien FINALLY realises they’re meant to be together. It’ll happen one day…

Fake Wife | Book Review

Fake WifeFake Wife

by Stacey Lynn (Goodreads Author)
 4.36  ·   Rating details ·  14 Ratings  ·  13 Reviews

This marriage is strictly business… until the temptation gets way too real.

Corbin: I loved my grandma, but I don’t need her money. All I care about is keeping the house—the only place that’s ever felt like home. That, and screwing over my dad, who wants to turn the property into a mall. There’s only one catch: To receive my inheritance, I have to get married within six months. Me, the guy who’s never dated a girl for more than six minutes. Now I need to find a woman I can trust. So when I’m rear-ended by a Prius, I figure it’s a sign that I’m supposed to meet gorgeous, down-to-earth Teagan Monroe.

Teagan: First I lose my job. Then I come home and find out—in the most graphic way possible… yeah, that way—that my boyfriend is a cheating jerk. And then I speed off and nearly kill Portland’s sexiest bachelor. Sterling Lane should be pissed. Instead, he offers me more money than I’ve ever seen in my life to marry him and live together in a mansion for two years. No sex. No feelings. Just cash—enough to make all my dreams come true. Then we go and break all our rules… and I realize I’m falling in love with my fake fiancé.

MY REVIEW

What a great read.  This book was a sweet romance that tugs at your heart ❤️.  Teagan is having a bad day.  First she gets laid off, then she arrives home to find her boyfriend banging some blond, she then leaves him becoming homeless and to top it all off she just rear ended a rich guys fancy car.  What more could happen?

Corbin Lane is having a bad day.  His grandmother has passed away and his dad is trying to take his grandmother’s place in the Bluffs from him to tear down and build a shopping mall.  When his grandmother’s will is read he gets her place in the Bluffs under one condition he must fall in love and marry within 6 months.  So when the beautiful woman rear ends him he gets an idea. Can he convince this angel to marry him?

This is a classic tale of a poor girl falling for the rich knight in shining armor.  The story is about following your own dreams and never giving up, for when it is meant to be it will be.  Never believe what’s on the surface because deep down the truth shall set you free.

The characters are very lovable. They are sweet and caring.  You can’t help but love them.  I would love to see a spin-off using Corbin’s best friends Caitlin and Trey.

The story really flows just perfectly.   It has some twists and misunderstandings.  It keeps things interesting.  I highly suggest this book for all you romantics at heart.

A Vicarage Christmas | Blog Tour w/ Review

A VicaBook Cover (1)rage Christmas

Blurb: Welcome to Thornwaite, a quaint village tucked up in England’s beautiful but rainy Lake District… where homecomings happen and surprises are in store for the four Holley sisters…

Anna Holley, the third of four sisters, has always felt a little bit forgotten. A family tragedy when she was a child had her retreating deep into shyness, and social anxiety kept her on the fringes of the cozy chaos of the busy vicarage.

After several years away from home, Anna returns for Christmas… and an important announcement from her father. As much as she once loved the village, coming back is hard and puts Anna’s social capabilities to the test.

Avoiding her sisters’ bossy questions, she heads out to the local pub one night, and meets a handsome stranger nursing a pint. Somehow, unburdened by expectations, Simon seems like the perfect person to spill all her secrets to—including a hopeless, long-held crush on her sister’s boyfriend. Confident she’ll never see him again, Anna returns home… only to discover the next day that Simon is actually her father’s new curate!

Anna is beyond mortified, but Simon won’t let her retreat into her usual shyness—and for once Anna is forced to confront the past, and all the fears and feelings she’d tried so long to hide. But with his own heartache that needs to heal, can Simon help Anna to make this the most magical Christmas either of them have known?

MY REVIEW

Wow this book is very deep and emotional.  I was ugly crying 😭.  Such a sad story.

It’s Christmas and Anna is home for the holiday season.  This is her first time home in four years.  She has stayed away for so long on purpose.  She has a hard time dealing with her family and the village life.

The first night back is too much and she escapes to the local pub to breathe.  There she meets a handsome stranger named Simon.  After one too many ciders she spills all her depressing sad feelings.  Knowing she will never see him again made it easy to confide in him.

The next day Anna goes to meet the new curate that will be working with her dad.  Surprised she finds the new curate is Simon.  Now fully embarrassed and hurt she gets angry with him.  How will she make it through the season? Can Simon convince her he has her best interest at heart ❤️?

The characters are well-developed and are continuing to grow, as this is just the beginning for the Holley sisters.  The next book will be about Esther.  Which will allow us to grow with them. I am interested to find out more about the other secrets the sisters have.

Anna has some serious self-esteem issues on top of a lot of guilt she is carrying around. Simon has some guilt of his own as well. Together they may just have the strength they need to heal.

christmas kissing love actually hugh grant GIFBreak out the tissues ladies!!  You’re in for a tear jerker.  This book will grab you by the heart-strings and twist you up.  It is a deep emotional read.  So be prepared.  I highly recommend this book for all you sentimental peeps!

EXCERPT

‘I’m not coming to Butterfly Cove.’

‘Luke…’

The ever-present simmer of anger in his gut boiled over. ‘Leave it!’ Damn. None of this was Arron’s fault, not Kiki or Mia’s either. There was only one person responsible for turning his life upside down.

Again.

He shoved a hand through his hair. ‘Sorry.’

His brother hunched closer across the table. ‘You have to speak to her sometime, bro. I don’t know what happened to her in New York, but she’s a mess.’

His temper spiked again. ‘And how is that my problem?’

Aaron gripped his forearm. ‘She’s your wife, Luke. For better, for worse and all that.’

He’d heard enough. He loved Aaron, but if he didn’t shut the hell up, Luke would say something unforgivable. He stood up, lifted his glass and drained the last third of his pint. ‘We’d better get back.’ He left the table without another word.

He was a couple of hundred yards up the road before Aaron caught up with him. Falling into step, he kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead of them. ‘We heard your argument, Kiki and me. After the wedding.’

Luke stopped dead. ‘What?’

Aaron faced him, one shoulder lifted in an apologetic shrug. ‘Outside the barn. We didn’t mean to, we were in the shadows at the side of the building.’

What the hell had they been doing lurking in the dark like that? It had been the night Aaron finally opened his heart to Kiki and…oh. The embarrassed flush on his brother’s face spoke volumes. He raised an eyebrow at him and the redness darkened.

‘Yeah, anyway. We weren’t snooping, but we heard what Nee said, about leaving you being a mistake. She sounded pretty sincere to me. Can’t you at least give her a chance to explain?’

A car approached, and they stepped onto the grass verge to let it pass. As soon as the road was clear again, Luke started walking. He didn’t want to think about the wedding. Didn’t want to think about how delicate and slight Nee had looked, the aching sorrow in her voice when she’d tried to talk to him. He heard Aaron’s footsteps behind him. Without looking around, he held up a hand in warning. ‘No more. The subject is closed.’

He couldn’t give her a chance to explain, because then he’d have to admit to the true source of his anger—himself. For all his protestations, he didn’t care why she’d left. He just wanted her back. And what kind of an idiot did that make him?

MY REVIEW

I loved, loved, loved this book!!!  It was such a heartfelt story.  Full of pain, love, and anger.  Everyone is back at Butterfly Cove again.  But things are not at a happy place at this time and troubles are on the horizon.  Nee is back from New York.  She is withdrawn, lost, a shell of the vibrant person she was.  Broken.  Everyone is on edge with her return as they are unsure how to handle the interaction between Nee and Luke.

Luke is still angry at Nee for leaving and some harsh words have been said, but Nee admitted to him that leaving was the worst mistake she ever made.  Is this true?  Can he forgive?  Will she tell him why she left?  Will she talk about what happened to her in New York?

These characters have us wrapped around their fingers.  They have so much love to give and that does not change in this book.  The show the true meaning of family and the strength that family gives to one another in a time of need.  This story focuses on Nee and Luke.  Nee is really lost and broken inside and unable to come out from the vortex of betrayal and hurt that is swallowing her whole.  Luke is worried about her and he is not going to give up on her.  He is a wonderful man and has a good strong character, so full of love.

This story is a bundle of emotions.  You have the joy of Christmas with family and friends.  You also have the pain and turmoil of someone you love who has lost their way.  You have the love of husbands who would sacrifice anything for their wives.  You have the healing process of abuse and cruelty like nothing you have ever seen.  This series is amazing with all it’s tales of love, hurt, loss and the bond.  Sarah has really wrapped up the Butterfly gang in a nice Christmas Bow.  She really wrote a wonderful ending to her stories of Butterfly Cove.  I will miss my friends at the Butterfly Cove.  But is nice to know that they will be ok.
