The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that.
But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me.
That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny… And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk. Next thing I know, he’s sitting down and ordering himself dinner.
I have no problem telling him I don’t need a pity date… unless of course it’s to my high school reunion next week. Oops where did that last bit come from? And what do I do now that he’s said yes?!
Because this is no make-over story, and I think Frankie is using me for something. I just have to figure out what…

The Hartigan brothers are back again in the next installment of The Hartigans Muffin Top. Frankie Hartigan is the oldest of the Hartigan clan. He is a playboy who does not hide or make promises about who he is. But when a fling points out that he is the one to call for a good time and not the one to call for long-term, he is forced to step back and reevaluate his choices in the dating game.
Lucy is curvy. A fact that currently has some stranger telling her to order a salad instead of eating that burger with her Mountain Dew. Wow! Who does he think he is? And why is he disturbing her?
Frankie notices that his brother’s fiancé’s best friend is being harassed by some jackass. So he decides to play the hero. Pretending to be her very late dinner date he runs off said jackass and proceeds to keep Lucy company. He realizes he has never really sat down and had a meaningful and enjoyable time with a woman other than in the sack. He wonders if his old fling might have been right? What better way to reevaluate than to take Lucy to her high school reunion as friends. No sex. Right? He can resist, since they are only friends right? Easier said than done.
The reunion goes great and they are moving into dangerous territory. What happens when life is back on track and things are not in a bubble anymore?
I just love the Hartigan books. They are fun, down to earth and serious all rolled into one beautiful story. This series is really relate able and gets down to the nitty-gritty of how cruel life is for those who don’t fit the skinny mold. These books really dig deep into the soul. The characters are wonderful and I love how they seem to find a happily ever after where they always believed they don’t deserve it because of how they look.
This book is no different from the first. Picking up with the same characters from the first book, this time telling Lucy and Frankie’s story. Frankie is a 6’6″ sexy as hell fireman. Lucy is a pretty girl with curves. She uses humor at her own expense as a defense mechanism so that others can’t hurt her. But all in all she is only hurting herself. Frankie has his work cut out for him that is for sure.
Even though this story has the fake boyfriend scenario, it has its own unique twist on it with its characters that gives it it’s own personality. I am thoroughly impressed with Avery Flynn and this series. I am going to have to check out other books by her. Her writing has a way of making you see that even though the world is cruel, there is always a happily ever after out there for everyone. It doesn’t matter your size or issues, you are unique and deserve to be loved. Can’t wait to see what is next for the Hartigan clan.
If you enjoy a good rom-com with a happy ending, then this book is for you. I highly suggest reading the Butterface first, but you don’t have to. I guarantee you will love these books.
