Talor Gardin may be a princess, but her life is no fairy tale.
A year ago, her mother died and her father burned down their house. Now with a father in and out of a mental ward, she’s working a minimum wage job to finish her last semester of college. To make matters worse, she gets itchy every time a guy makes a move on her. The itch could be anything, really: a desire to escape her haunted hometown, a financial windfall, the name of some vampire…or all the above. Whatever the reason, she thinks the answers are written in the freckle constellations of her cute new coworker, Sage Talis.
Sage is the quiet, polite type with plenty of secrets – like fangs and a price on his head – and Talor can’t figure out what makes him so irresistible until she hears him sing. But when cryptic letters appear on her wrist, Talor is thrust into a world where fantastic creatures lurk just below the skin, strangers keep calling her a princess, and everything she’s been through is nothing compared to what’s coming.
This is the first Safari Spell book that I have read and I got to say, I need the next book like a kid wants candy. 😉
In this paranormal adventure Talor is like a lot of young adults. She goes to college, lives with her grandmother and works in a gym. Normal? Yeah right! Her father is in an institution and her mother died when she was little. I would say she is troubled and a tad lonely. She has some really good friends, but they don’t cure the part deep in her soul where she yearns for something more.
One day Talor’s life is turned upside down with the arrival of a new guy, Sage. He is good-looking and sexy as sin. But he won’t give her the time of day. With his arrival strange things start to happen. The gym playboy Spencer starts taking an overly strong interest in Talor. She has a hard time fighting off his advances. She sees shadows, strange people start showing up in town and feels like she is being watched at times. Not to mention people keep calling her princess.? What is that all about?
When Spencer disappears and Sage begins to show interest in her, things really start getting weird. What is going on and who can she trust? Can Talor figure the puzzle out before something happens to her?
Ok starting off on this book I was a bit leery, but in the end I was hooked. The ending was epic and left me like a mental patient with my mouth hanging open and drool coming out. I really enjoyed the story as it developed, but felt lost at times. It was really busy and had a lot going on with some things left unexplored. I was a bit confused here and there, but as the story became more whole I felt better.
The two main characters in this story are magnetic. They don’t want to fight the attraction that is brewing between them but must. They were never meant to be, but they fell for each other and hard. It is a soul shattering love story of epic proportions.
I loved all the characters in this book and was a bit disappointed when some of the characters showed a promise to the bigger picture, but were not in it. These were the times I felt lost and wonder why the introduction if not having them explored. For instance her creepy boss and her professor. People that make you go hmm…….
The ending of this book will leave you screaming and saying no!!!! Go back! I want a do over!!! Let us just say CLIFF HANGER! You will be dangling over the edge holding on for dear life wondering what now. You will want to rush out and pick up the next book For The Ages ASAP!
Overall this book is pretty damn good. A roller coaster ride of emotions throughout. It is addicting. I had a hard time putting it down once I picked it up. A definite “just one more chapter” kind of book. I would have given it 5 stars, but like I said I had a few tiny issues. So it will have to get 4. I am going to definitely read the next book though. Got to know what happens next!
