The only person who can keep her alive is the last person she wants to trust.

Declan O’Reilly was on his way to retiring from a life undercover when his final case took a potentially fatal turn. Blowing his cover to protect the only reason he stayed on the case to begin with becomes a challenge when money and power corrupt the very agency he was sworn to trust. Going off the grid, where nobody can find them, he learns his desire to protect Lydia is more than just a job.

He risks it all to protect the one thing he thought he could never have. She fights to discover what she’s really made of only to find its what he saw in her all along. Not once, but twice, fate offers a maniacal twist that can tear them apart, as much as it can drive them together while trying to outrun the extensive reach of a diabolical criminal.

Sometimes you have to break rules to protect what you love. Can Declan’s own Brother’s Keeper Security help them find their way, or does it just put more lives on the line while the unlikely couple fights for forever.

This is the first book from Stephanie St. Klaire I have read.  It is a great start to a great series.

In this book Lydia is a wealthy woman who is unaware of the real life she is leading.  When she witnesses the horror that her husband is she freaks out.  Her driver is the only person who can help her, but can she trust him.

Declan has been undercover investigating Lydia’s crime lord husband, that is until Lydia sees her husband kill someone.  Now he has to protect her and her child.  Going on the run and always one step behind is frustrating and dangerous.  Who is feeding info to the enemy?  Can Declan save Lydia and her son?

This book was two parts.  Part one deals with her husband and part  two deals with another enemy.  This is a long novel that flows smoothly and has tons of action.  It doesn’t get steamy till about 3/4 of the way through.  This book really focuses on the actual story instead of hot sex.  I did find the book to be a bit descriptive, but overall a great read.  It will have you on the edge of your seat.

The characters are wonderful.  The center focus may be the main characters, but you get a bit of background and character build up with the others as well.  The world buildup is nicely done, allowing a perfect setup to continue the story with another character focus.

If you are looking for a thriller drama filled novel with an Alpha hot male, then this book is right up your alley.  The action is phenomenal.  Almost as good as an action adventure movie.  I loved it.  On to book two for me.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

5 star
